UPSC CDS 2017: Notification and Exam Dates

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is one of the renowned organizations in the country that conducts competitive exams like the Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam or recruiting candidates for top posts in government organizations like defence and so on. A large number of aspirants across the country appear for this exam. If the schedule of the CDS exam is that one wish to know, the Exam I would be held in February 2017 and Exam II would be in October 2017. The registration for the exam in online mode was from November onwards.
Exam Important Dates Notification released on 9th Nov 2016 Last date for application form submission 2nd Dec 2016 Exam to be held on 5th Feb 2017 Criteria for Eligibility Educational Qualification For Indian Naval Academy- Aspirants should hold a degree in Engineering from an approved university or organization.

For Air Force Academy- Aspirants should hold a BTech or bachelor’s degree from an approved university (with Physics and Chemistry as subjects in XIIth Std).

For Officer’s Training Academy and IMA- Aspirants should possess a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution or university.

Important Note- Aspirants who have appeared in the final year exam could also apply for the exam.


The aspirants should have the citizenship of the below countries

a) India

b) Nepal

c) Bhutan

d) Refugee from Tibet arrived in India before 1-Jan-1962 with proof of permanent residence.

Pattern of Exam

It is advisable that aspirants should go through the exam pattern in detail to know various aspects related to it like exam duration, question types, subjects - Math, English and General Knowledge, number of questions and so on. If the aspirants know about these aspects in a clear manner, it would help them to strategize their preparation in the best possible manner

Subjects Duration Maximum Marks

General Knowledge English 2 hours 100 marks

Elementary Mathematics 2 hours 100 marks

English 2 hours 100 marks

Physical Standards

The aspirants should have the physical fitness required for attending the exam as mentioned in the guidelines provided in Appendix-IV.

Admit Card

Aspirants who are eligible would be issued with an e-admit card three weeks prior to the exam. It would be available at the UPSC official website for downloading. Candidates should be aware that there would be issue of the card via post.
